Hell's Bells

  For the time Vinny and I spent writing “Hell’s Bells,” we became each other’s biggest fans. We eagerly waited at our computers, refreshing our email pages, eagerly waiting for the next part of the story. We couldn’t wait to get our eyes on the other’s work, and when we finally did, we devoured every syllable. We read it, thought about it, and read it again, examining every nook and cranny where a new plot twist might be hiding.

  We became obsessed with the story. It was what we lived for.

  Okay, so neither of us were as crazy as the old hag in the story, but you get the point.

  I think every author deserves to have a fan like that lady. Someone who can’t imagine how her life would be without that author’s work.

  If you’re an author, I hope you find your biggest fan. Maybe you already have one.

  If you’re a reader, let an author know how much you enjoyed their story. People underestimate how much a few words of praise can mean to someone in this business.

  Just don’t be a crazy bitch about it. That’s all we ask.

  I echo Trevor’s sentiments. I never once thought about collaborating on a work of literature, but after reading some of his short stories and realizing that we have very similar styles, I said, “What the hey, this might be fun.” It turned out that it was, and I’m glad that I took the opportunity to do this.
