He laughed.
“Nothing, baby. Just wanted to know if you'd marry me.” He said it all so matter-of-factly.
“What?” I asked.
He laughed again and said, “That's my line, babe.”
Then it was my turn to laugh before I said, “Okay, Zou. We’re going back to those days, huh?”
“Fuck no.” He sobered. “Marry me, Phoebe. I promise to love you forever. You and me were meant to be, in this I have no doubts. You're going to be an awesome Mother, wife, jewelry maker or whatever the fuck you want to do. I'll always take care of you. Of us.”
His arm snaked around my waist as he pulled me closer to him even though he was kneeling on the floor.
I wasn't sure what to say, so I just looked at him and burst out laughing.
“God, you are so funny!” I had tears rolling down my face.
“Fuck, Phoebe, I'm asking you to marry me and you're laughing.” He ran his hand through his already messy head of hair.
I rose up on my elbows and kissed his forehead, then said, “Of course I’ll marry you silly. You were so being so serious.”
For some crazy reason, I kept laughing until he hopped on the bed and said, “You're serious?”
“Uh, yeah.” I continued to laugh. “What could keep me from marrying you? Clams?”
I burst out laughing again and this time, he joined me. Then Goliath pulled out a familiar piece of jewelry with an added addition to it.
“Oh my God,” I yelled. “You bought this?”
Tears started to escape my eyes.
“Of course.” He smiled.
He had my treasured charm bracelet and the additional charm was a ring with a massive rock planted on top.
Then he asked, “Am I building you a house in Manor or did you really want to move to Savannah, Georgia?”
“Oh, definitely Manor!” I squealed. “Can you imagine? I’ll be an old lady, you’ll be a Guardian and that will be a whole new chapter in our lives.”
“Yeah, it looks like it’s written in the books for us. Not sure, I’d write it any differently,” Goliath smiled and planted a huge kiss on my mouth.
“Yeah, me either,” I said as I made room in the bed for him.
This was something to celebrate!
