He nodded. “I was wrong. I was an idiot because you’re it.”
“Yeah, you were.” She swallowed hard, moving her thumb along the back of his hand as she held his gaze. “I thought you didn’t want me anymore.”
He laughed. “I’ll always want you, darling. Always.” A grin pulled at his lips as she held his gaze. “Say it. Mercy, Gen, say it.”
She kissed the back of his hand, and with her lips still in place, she whispered the only word he wanted.
“Yes.”
