She gives me her stern, no-nonsense stare. “If you’re trying to put off getting ready, it’s not going to work.”
“Do you have any idea how happy a man you have made me?”
Maia starts to relax in my arms, letting out a breath. “That’s not fair. You know I get all defenseless against your charm when you say things like that.”
“It’s true. I just walked through this house, filled top to bottom with the most exceptional people, and it’s all because of you. You brought us all together. Turned our house into a home. Raised our children and still managed to remain the sexiest woman I have ever laid eyes on.”
She slaps my arm. “Oh, stop.”
I let out a Laugh. “When you married me, did you ever think we would be where we are today?”
“Absolutely. I never had a doubt in my mind, that a man as amazing as you, was going to give me a life only read about in the best romance novels that were ever written.”
I let out a chuckle. “Are those the ones with all those half-naked men on the front?”
She tilts her head. “The juicy ones, anyway.”
I look into Maia’s eyes. “I love you, Mrs. Adair.”
“I love you too, Mr. Adair.”
As I turn to go get ready, she calls out to me with a chuckle. “Aldric, what do you think the next fifty will hold for us?”
I turn and give her my best joyous smile. “We’ll just have to wait and see, love. But I have a feeling that it's going to be another wild and exciting ride.”
