Al suddenly APPEARS.
AL
Sam, hurry. He’s coming back from lunch.
SAM
Al, I haven’t even scratched the surface. He has hundreds of files.
AL
Oh Sam, get out now. We’ll find another way.
Dr. Cutter WALKS into his office. He is STUNNED to see Gabriel/Sam sitting at his desk.
CUTTER
Excuse me, what are you doing in my office? I’m calling the police.
SAM
That won’t be necessary, Dr. Cutter. I-I was just servicing your computer. Your secretary called my shop about it needing maintenance.
CUTTER
My secretary is on vacation, and I do my own repairs. Now who are you, and what do you want?
Sam LOOKS at Al’s holographic image, then back at Dr. Cutter.
SAM
Please…please, my name is Dr. Sam Beckett.
Al MOVES in front of Sam, STARING at him in disbelief.
AL
Sam, what are you doing?
Sam WHISPERS to Al.
SAM
Finding another way, Al.
CUTTER
Sam Beckett? Is this a joke? Donna sent you to steal my research, didn’t she?
SAM
Oh, n-no not all. Ten years from now, you…you and I will meet at a conference. You…you’ll tell me about your family. How they were killed by the Nazis, and how you wish you could go back in time and change history so that they might live again. How that idea has driven you in your theories on the subject. Trust me, I know all about that desire to change your own past. But…but, you will end up changing all of history from that selfishness.
CUTTER
How…how do you know all this about me? I’ve never told anyone, even changed my name.
SAM
But you tell me. Ten years from now. What I propose is that instead of working separately, we work together. Come work for Project Quantum Leap. We could always use someone like you. I especially like your theories on variable quantum shielding.
Al LOOKS at Sam, STUNNED by the statement.
AL
Shielding? Like the type Sammi Jo implemented?
Sam WHISPERS to Al.
SAM
Yep. Appears so.
CUTTER
You like my ideas? They’re still just theories, will take years just to test them. But with the proper funding…
SAM
Working together, maybe we can put them into practical use.
Cutter skeptically LOOKS at Gabriel/Sam. He PONDERS the offer for a moment.
CUTTER
Okay…Dr. Beckett. Ten years from now.
Al EXAMINES the hand-held device. He excitedly EXCLAIMS.
AL
Sam, you did it! The timeline has been fixed! The good doc here does in fact come work for Project Quantum Leap, eventually sharing his theories on shielding with Sammi Jo that are currently in use!
SAM
That’s great, Al! And what about the Evil Leaper Project, Al? Does Ziggy have anything on it?
AL
Well, Ziggy says there’s a 50% chance it’s still in existence in one form or another.
SAM
Guess we can’t solve all the problems at once.
