In SPELLBOUND I found the perfect vehicle in which to chronicle the early years of the first attempts at converting an old Mississippi River steamboat into a floating circus. Mollie’s husband Gus, daughters Dixie, Mattie, Minnie, along with sons Eugene and William, are all featured in this story and were actual persons. The other characters are fictional.
