“‘Kay.” Paolo’s not offended. He always accepts me where I am. It’s a gift I never expected. One few people ever receive.
“I love you,” I say again, turning back to him. Still adoring those three words.
He smiles. “Ti amo, bella.”
I gasp. “Can we honeymoon in Italy?”
His laugh fills the room. “Of course. Anything you want, doll.”
I sit up, suddenly excited about all the possibilities. About my future with Paolo. “What are we doing for Christmas?”
“Vegas, baby. The whole family takes over the top floors of the Bellissimo.”
“Can Trevor come?”
“He’s family now.”
I beam at him.
He spreads his hands. “What else? Your wish is my command.”
My smile gets even bigger. “I’m ready for my punishment now.”
Paolo’s eyes go dark and he pounces, pinning me back down and rolling me to my belly. “Punishment, it is, little girl.”
