I clear my throat, “I beg to differ, sir. This was a fuck for the record books for more than one reason.” The driver pulls into our gated community and makes a turn to head down our driveway.
He zips up as I clean up as best I can. “Luca,” I say his name to get his attention.
“Yeah? Tell me how record-breaking it is.” A serene smile floats across his face.
I grab his hand. “You just had sex with a pregnant woman.”
“What?” His excitement is palpable. We’ve been trying for a long time. “Don’t play with me. Are you serious?”
“I’m totally serious, and guess when the baby is due?”
He pulls me out of the car and spins us around the driveway in a smarmy, eager waltz. I can see him doing the math. “Is that con going to steal our day?”
“The baby is due on Christmas.”
Luca wraps his arms around my waist and kisses the top of my head. “Oh, yes. You’ve done quite nicely, Elizabeth.”
“So have you, for a Nigerian prince I met on the dark web.”
