Number one rule for negotiating? Imply that you’re too busy. Juniper sucked air in between her teeth and shook her head slowly. “I’m gonna be honest, Jared, Spirited Construction is pretty busy right now. I’ll let you know once I’ve spoken to Jack, my partner, but the truth is we weren’t looking to take on another property at the moment. We’re finishing up a Georgian Revival in Lakeside and we’ve still got a crew on a retreat in—”
“What if I can talk my clients into dropping the price?”
Juniper took a moment, looked around, then nodded slowly. The actual truth was they were finished all of their projects and completely ready to make the next purchase but it never hurt to play hardball. “All right. I think I can help you out but I need to call my—”
Juniper cut herself off as she saw something out of the corner of her eye.
It was a dark haired woman in a light lace dress creeping up the mansion’s front steps. A gush of wind sent fallen leaves dancing down the steps around her. She was pale as a ghost.
Could this be the ghost of the manor, bound to toil in the Doctor’s House mansion throughout eternity?
Authors Note from Rachael Stapleton:
Dear brilliant booklover with excellent taste,
Thank you for reading my book! I am eternally grateful to many people for their support and input on Murder, She Floats. I grew up in a small town; I lived in the city and moved back to the area and then years ago I moved east to an even cozier town—I know, hard to believe one exists. I can honestly say Bohemian Lake is an amalgamation of all the places and people I’ve known. It is a place that speaks to my heart. A place filled with murder, mayhem and mystery, and this book is just the beginning. I hope you love the town and its people as much as I do.
A big thanks to my beta readers, reviewers and fans for their generosity and encouragement. Thanks to my beloved family for their hugs and cheers. Thanks to my awesome editors, Susan Croft and Steven Moore, the people who punctuate me. And of course a big shout-out to the usual suspects, my B7 writing group: I’m honored and blessed to be in the company of such talented women. Thank you.
Once again, thank you for reading my book. I promise the fun is just beginning.
Cheers,
Rachael
