She pulled the covers back on the bed and patted the mattress. “I’m ready to sleep with my soulmate.”
He climbed into the bed, making it creak and groan with his weight, and laid on his side, feeling kind of silly but loving how much she seemed to enjoy it. She brought the blankets up over them and cuddled into him, resting her head on his arm and yawning.
“Thank you for shifting for me. I feel so safe and warm.” She tilted her face up and said, “I love you dearly, sweet soulmate of mine.”
He answered her with a soft hoot, which made her smile. Her eyes closed and within a few minutes, her breathing had evened as she drifted off to sleep. He watched her for a little while, feeling closer to her than he’d ever expected. He hadn’t understood why his gorilla had changed that first night he met her, but he knew now. His beast wanted to be with her, too. Holding her – in either form – was wonderful. He smiled and closed his eyes, thankful that he’d been in the right place at the right time to meet his amazing Lexy.
He couldn’t wait to start the next chapter of their life together.
