    Sight: A Verse Thriller

“Vito!” I shout “If this continues

      It'll only end bad.

      There's a chance I'll believe you!

But you have to talk to me!”

      “No chance, Kid!

      I doesn't matter what I didn't or what I did,

      My life's over!”

      Suddenly, the horse abruptly halts

      Followed by me

As a circle of blue flames appears like a ghost

      “Don Vito Goblione!

      Your crimes end here!”

      That voice is Leighs'

      That's clear.

      Stepping from the tree line

      Followed by her team

Time has not been kind to her and me

“I've got this, partner.” My tone polite

She glares at me with cold, angry eyes

      “We're not partners anymore

      And this collar is mine.

Interfere, and I'll charge you with a crime.”

      I stare her down

“You saying you'll accuse me of treason?”

She raises her eye brows in confirmation

      Followed up with cutting words

      “Give me a reason.”

      “Nate?” Vito calls to me

“Promise me,” I say to Leigh

“You'll take every possibility into consideration.”

“Saying that,” Leigh scoffs “That's brazen.

Maybe you forget all the things he's done.”

“No.” My tone dry “But fair justice should still be won.”

“You really think he's at all innocent?” She begins to

      steam

      “Of this particular crime? Maybe.”

      “You're an idiot.” She growls

“And you,” I bite back “are too close to this.”

      “Excuse me?” She barks

“He wouldn't divulge info about your brother.

      That ticked you off.

      This is revenge.

      But what's it gonna cost?”

“This has nothing to do with that.” Her sparks begin to

      flare

“But if you wanna bring up the past

      Let's be fair.

      You made a promise

And you literally slept on it for two years.

So excuse me if unlike you I don't shed tears

For this Green piece of trash.

      This conversation's over.”

      She proceeds through the flames

      “Don Vito Goblione!” She proclaims

“You're under arrest for aiding, abiding,”

She grabs Vito by the wrist

      “Trafficking,

And any other crimes I can think of.” Her tone shifts to

      bliss

As she uses her flames to cuff his wrists

Vito let's out a whimpering cry

“Let's see just how innocent he is?”

      Instantly, the frisking begins

      “Oh my,” She chuckles

      “What have we here?

      A coded letter.

      From Death to be clear.”

      “That's not mine!” Vito calls

      “Nate! Help me please!

      It's not mine!

I swear I'm sorry! I'm sorry for everything!

Please! Don't let them take me!”

      He falls to his knees

“Get him up!” Leigh orders her team

“And put him in a cage!

Let him empathize with their pain.”

“What happened to you?” I say disappointed

“Nothing you can fix, partner.” Her words poignant

“Jewl wants you back at HQ.

      So if you don't mind.

      Are we through?”

“Yeah.” I reply “I suppose we are.”

Two years – This is beyond hard

The pain I feel suffocating me

As a tear or two flows down my cheek

      I'll introduce myself

      Though right now it's hard

Who am I and what's my part?

      My friends scattered

      I'm on my own

How this case will end, I can't even know

I'll never even see it coming

The fire literal and metaphorical, the same

And it's tragically all a part of Death's game

The pain not even close to done

      What's coming next...

      It won't be fun

      My name is Nathan Masterson

If you liked this: you're in for a treat.

      There is a traitor among them, something ill on the air;

12 special youths are being abducted one after the next. The Zodiacs hold the key to the world's demise. The trial of Don Vito Goblione has begun. Swearing he's innocent and that the Organization is simply oppressing non human Mystics. If true, it presents the possibility for betrayal. Could someone in the ranks be working for the enemy?       Book One of the

      Emerald Hood Trilogy

      My upcoming Sci-fi in Verse

“I had a dream,” I say “Last night.

That I was a contestant in the fight.

I narrowly won though the distance was tight.”

Duo looks at me with pity as he scoffs “Yeah right,

Like you could ever become the Emerald Hood.”

“But if I can convince the master,” I say

      “It won't happen,” Duo claims

“Even if you had one thousand days.

      The master won't consent. Understood?”

My blood boils “No I don't understand.

I don't understand a thing about that man!

Why won't he let us be?

Why won't he let us free?

Does he not have an ounce of good?”

In this house of will and wealth

We are but tools upon a shelf

Slaves and servants, no manner of self

No freedom, no family, no way we ever could

Compete to be the Emerald Hood

If I ever had the chance

To show the world, to make my stance

To make them acknowledge, to make them glance

My skills to put them in a trance

      I would

But to do it I need permission

From a man whose forced submission

Instills in me a distant vision

Of my father the Emerald Hood

A man, mighty as he fought

Against injustice, even in a tight spot

My past fuzzy, but it's all I've got

I need to make a way to take my shot

To be like him – The Emerald Hood

By the moon, the vision clearly

      Showing him wounded severely

Still he found it in him really

To save his daughter as best he could

Strength is what it means to be the Emerald Hood

Not only strength, but a bonus too

Wealth and status – Authority true

Throughout the system – The people blue

I know what it is I must do

The question is how I could

Could I become the Emerald Hood?

      “Girl!” So the master calls

My chance before me to risk it all

Bringing in his tea Low I fall

      Bowing, though my pride withstood

Trying to earn his favor, good

“Thank you girl.” He sharply replies

His eyes radiating a forced lie

      “Master,” I say “May I...”

Suddenly, a tightness in my chest

My body shakes as I do my best

      My anxiety, oh th
    is is not good

      “Speak girl.” So he snaps

Taking a sip he then taps

“Well, have you nothing to say?

Do not waste my time.” He berates

It's now or never as I know I should

“Let me compete to be Emerald Hood!”

My tone echoes through the hall

As back in his chair he curdles and falls

      “Excuse me?!” He barks, demanding

      “You dare to request that?

      You need reprimanding!

      Two nights without meals!

      Never forget your place.

You are but a lowly servant.

      The Hood stands great!

      Get out of my sight!”

      He raises his hand

I now remember why I hate this man

      This house is a prison

      It was never a home

      I fight, defiant

      And roam alone

I will make my dream a reality

Next time that he asks for tea

I will show him what it means to deny me

I am human just like him

      But because he's duke

      He's innocent of sin

      Maybe I should run

      On a whim

The image of my father - He & him

A man who's life was one of humility and good

      A servant no longer

That's who I wish to be

I wish to be the embodiment of good

I wish to be the Emerald Hood

If you liked this: you're in for a treat.

      In the distant future,

The legend of Robin of Loxley

Has inspired a system of planets to celebritize the Emerald Hood as a position of wealth, power and authority for the ambitious youth. But even thousands of years in the future class and wealth still give people an ego. A young servant girl seeks to alter the status quo and become the next Hood. But with the odds stacked against her, can she really compete with only decent skills and a memory of her father and former Emerald Hood driving her?

To steal the title, sometimes being a thief is a good thing.

      Book One of the

      Rain Fall Trilogy

      My upcoming Verse Thriller

      Five:

      As I wake up

      A searing burn

      Writhing in pain

      A toss and a turn

      Lifting my shirt

      It smolders and smokes

The letter “V” on my chest

Instantly, I feel an urge driving me on

I have no time to rest

Lifting myself out from under a box

      No idea where I'm going

      But I'm not lost

As if an internal compass leads my way

      Wandering the rainy streets

      I hear a voice “Hey!”

      I turn to look

      I don't recognize his face

      “I finally found you.”

      I look at him blankly

      “Hey. Hey!”

      He steps forward

      As panic ensues

      I don't know why

      I don't know who

      “Ben.” He calls

      “Ben, are you okay?”

      “Who's Ben?” I say

He looks startled for a moment

Then he gives a hallow laugh

      “Very funny.” He says

      “Now, c'mon. Cut the crap.

      We're gonna miss our flight.”

      As he step forward again

      My chest gets tight

I back away, not knowing why

      Something's not right

As a tear leaves my eye

“Ben. What the hell's a matter with you?”

      The man continues to prod

Suddenly, I feel the urge to run

      It's odd...

I begin to run down the busy street

As if my legs are doing it all on their own

I almost feels like I'm running home

But I don't even know where home is...

“Ben!” The guy shouts, not giving in

      He's chasing after me

Like it's a battle for his soul

      Who is he?

      Who am I?

One look at him and I feel cold

      “I don't know a Ben.” I reply loud

I don't mean to say it

      It just came out

      “Stop following me!” I continue

His face goes pale as he's keeping pace

What the hell is happening today?

“Ben!” He calls one last time

As on instinct I swipe my hand

      Suddenly, a wall confines

Putting some distance between him and me

The crowd on the street in awe

Wondering what they hell they've just seen

      I'm curious too

“Did... I do that?” I wonder aloud

      As more people shuffle in

      Forming a crowd

      I begin to run again

      Some how knowing the way

To home – To a comforting place

      Confused and afraid

      No memories I can recall

A part of me feels liberated...

      Like I'm ten feet tall

It feels like I've never been more alive

      Then there's this “V”...

      No... The roman numeral Five
