Liam: Absolutely. We know our band has done well and sold a few records, but standing in front of that many people in these huge venues was just ridiculous. Proper mad. Not exactly the Sunshine Festival, I guess! Seriously, though, how can you describe that? Tens of thousands of people on the other side of the world, crammed into these massive stadiums to see us play. What a privilege. We really upped our game for these concerts. You could see all the lads were just so intent on making these our best shows ever.
Niall: Those shows were just incredible. The noise, the energy from the crowd – the buzz was intense.
Zayn: The fans were rocking up at the hotels and shouting and singing outside. Amazing. The fact we were so far away from home and there were so many fans at these massive gigs was just insane. The shows all have the intensity of that Verona gig I mentioned, only multiplied loads more. It’s the best feeling ever.
Harry: Obviously we had to be sensible with our sightseeing this time. We were lucky enough to get to see the Machu Picchu ruins, which were beautiful. Contrast that with playing stadiums, and it really has been an incredible start to the tour. It sums up the band and what our fans have achieved with us. The set list seems to condense all the mad events of the past four years into one night – it’s an intense, emotional and amazing experience. I know we’ve worked really hard and done a good number of gigs, promo, TV, radio, all that. But absolutely nothing beats performing in stadiums around the world … I love it!
