“Will you marry me, baby?” He asked the question so fast, it came out sounding like one long word.
She rolled her eyes and blew a raspberry. “You know I will.”
“I’ll take good care of you, Kara. I swear you can count on me.” His solemn promise made her eyes water.
“I know.” She melted the moment he crushed his lips to hers. When their mouths melded in a hungry joining of their tongues and souls, she was sure her heart would burst with happiness.
Epilogue
“Come on, baby. You know the beach house is right there. You’re turning into a couch potato,” he complained.
Kara leaned her head onto Max’s shoulder and giggled. All their problems had finally been worked out. Frank and his father were under arrest, awaiting trial for money fraud among many other charges. Jane was jailed for attempted murder and she hated the orange jumpsuit. It didn’t go well with her complexion.
“We’re on our honeymoon. That means I get whatever I want. And I want you to carry me to bed.” She sighed and nibbled at his neck.
They were back in their very own paradise. The island they’d crashed on, Max bought. It was his wedding gift to her. All they’d done was have a beach house built. The rest of the island had been swept clean like nothing ever existed there. All signs of men and drugs wiped away.
After consulting with their lawyers, they decide to keep quiet about the drug ring. As Norman said, many undercover ops were ongoing and they didn’t want to be the reason someone was killed.
He grumbled under his breath about marrying a lazy bum, and she smacked him upside his head.
“Hey! What’d you do that for?” he mock complained and kissed her forehead.
“I’m only going to get lazier. You know pregnancy does that to a woman.” She held her breath and waited for the words to sink in. What she didn’t expect was for him to drop her in the sand. She hit ass first.
“Max!” she yelled.
He bent down and picked her up in a rush. “I’m sorry. I’m sorry. But I thought I heard you say you were pregnant.”
“I did say I was pregnant, you dummy.” Grumbling, she dusted sand off her hands.
“B-but… How?”
She lifted a brow. “Do I really need to answer that?”
He sat on a lounge chair and settled her on his lap. “I mean, you said you’d had some kind of shot.”
“I did. It doesn’t work well when a person is on heavy antibiotics. Those two times I was in the hospital? It seems to have messed with my birth control.”
“So, you mean you’re really?” He sounded shocked, and she definitely related. She’d been beyond surprised herself when she got the news before they left for the island.
“Yep.” She nodded.
He looked concerned and shell-shocked. “What do we do now?”
“Have lots of sex.” At least that’s what she wanted to do.
“Are you sure?” He looked down at her belly.
She wiggled her hips over his cock. Mmm. She’d never tire of having him inside her. “We’re on our honeymoon! What the hell else do you think we do? This baby won’t feel a thing. Besides, we have eight months of sex and sleep before we have to get up at all hours of the night for a newborn. I am not giving up the sex, though.” The soft complaints rushed out in small breaths when his cock hardened and lengthened under her.
He laughed at her haughty tone and groaned when she rocked harder over him.
“You’re such a bad girl.” He chuckled and removed her bikini top.
When his fingers squeezed at her sensitive breasts, she moaned. “You talk too much, husband. Shut up and fuck me already,” she ordered.
“Such a bossy bit of goods. You’ll learn who’s boss around here.” He latched his mouth onto her nipple and sucked. Breathless pants squeezed her lungs and tension mounted inside.
“Let’s call it a draw, please? I need you, Max.” Choked moans slipped through her lips.
Their mouths met in a needy kiss, and everything but the need to join as one ceased to exist for both.
Then Kara hummed the “Pokey Pokey” song.
