Drifter's Darling (Culpepper Cowboys Book 12)

  Evan marched him to the door, and as soon as he was through and out in the pristine, snow, sunlight gleaming off of it, he slammed the door behind him.

  That done, he turned and headed back to the kitchen and Elvie, pretending to wipe his hands as though he’d gotten crud on them. “Well, that’s the end of that.”

  Elvie tilted her head to the side in consideration. It was such a cute look that Evan walked right up to her and slid his arms around her, holding her close. “That was easier than I thought it’d be.”

  Evan laughed out loud. “Easier? I went through months of drifting just to avoid that man. If I find out he really was manipulating the whole media thing to spook me, I might just rip his pointy little head off once I go in to his office this afternoon to sign all the paperwork.”

  To his surprise, Elvie burst into a smile. “So you’re really going to do it? You’re really going to claim Kissie Lips and everything that goes with it at last?”

  “Yep. And do you know why?”

  She rested her arms around his shoulders and shook her head. “No, why?”

  “Because I have a gorgeous, smart, sensitive fiancée who is going to make sure that I don’t ever change away from who I really am.” He kissed her, then went on with, “Because I have a friend who knows who I want to be and wants to be a big part of that picture.” He kissed her a second time. “And because your brother will be able to help me figure out how to get someone else to run the company so that I can take the job working on the Culpepper ranch until I’m ready to do something bigger.” He finished with a laugh.

  Elvie laughed along with him. “I’m sure Sly will have all sorts of suggestions for how to run Kissie Lips.”

  “Good.” Evan pulled her closer. “Because the only Kissie Lips I care about right now are these ones.”

  He kissed her again, putting his whole heart and soul into it. They were a perfect pair, matched on every level, and he looked forward to discovering all the ways his life with Elvie at his side would be perfect.

  Ah ha! I can already hear you scratching your heads and asking a few important questions. Like “When are Elvie and Evan actually going to get married?” and “What is Elvie’s full name, and is it as silly as her brothers?” Well, don’t despair. I can’t say too much, but I will give you this hint… Brother Anthony had better get ready to do a double wedding in just six weeks, once Hairdresser’s Honey comes out!
