Adam chuckled. “I guess you could call it that. We don’t go for labels. We just wanted you to know that we see ourselves as a threesome now.”
She didn’t say anything for a long time. Then, her mouth curved and soon she was grinning. “I like the sound of that. But I have something to tell you.”
“Is it worse than the tabloid crap?” Adam asked.
She shook her head. “That first time you guys had sex.”
“With you?”
“No, in the house.”
He looked at Mick, who was frowning at him. Then they both looked at her.

“I accidentally saw you.”

“No,” she said, her face turning pink. “It’s just that I was taking pics and turned in your direction and accidentally saw you.”
“And just kept looking?” Adam asked, laughing.

“We forgive you,” Adam said.
She rolled her eyes. “I just wanted you to know. I’ve felt guilty all this time.”
Adam shared a smile with Mick. He leaned down and kissed her, then Mick did the same.
“And don’t worry,” Mick said. “We’ll talk about babies soon, but just so you know, Mom will be here next month. She’ll be bugging you about it.”
She covered her face with her hands. “Oh, God.” She dropped her hands. “Maybe I need to do a shoot on Maui next month.”
Adam laughed. “Good try, but now that you’re with us, you have to deal with Estelle McGrath. But she’s going to insist you call her mom.”
Serenity smiled. “I really like the sound of that.”
He picked her up off her chair and plopped her down on his lap. Mick moved over.
“What are you doing?” she asked.
“Just sitting here with my lovers, enjoying the fact we live in Hawaii.”
“Sounds like a plan for today,” Mick said.

Four years ago
Jenson Wulf let himself into his New York brownstone and sighed with relief. It had been a long three months since he’d been here, in what he had termed as his sanctuary. He’d left on his own accord, ready to make a fresh start and walk away from the heroin haze he’d lived the last four years.
It smelled fresh. The vinegary scent of heroin no longer clung to the furniture. He assumed that his mother had made sure everything had been cleaned out before he returned. She was good like that. She kept their tidy even as everything else was falling apart. The floors had been redone, there was a new coat of paint…damn, he owed her.
He had disappointed her, more than a few times, but almost dying of an overdose was the worst. He would never forget the look of pain in her gaze. It was that look that had made him realize he wasn’t just hurting himself.
There was mail stacked up on a credenza. His mother had taken care of the bills, he knew that. But, he was sure there was other correspondence for him. He picked up the envelopes and stepped into the living room.
He didn’t see her at first. She was sitting in the chair to the right of the fireplace, her phone in her hand as she read something on the screen.
“I thought you would never make it in here.”
American, but there was a slight accent to her voice that he couldn’t place. She was dressed in a striking red blouse, a short black skirt, hose, and fuck me heels. Her hair was dark brown and long from what he could tell. She had it up in a ponytail. A black coat was draped over the arm of the chair.
“Excuse me.”
She looked up at him. Ice blue eyes. Jesus, it didn’t fit with the rest of the package.
“You spent a lot of time in the foyer.”
He opened his mouth to explain why then he remembered it was his fucking house.
“Who the hell are you?”
She smiled, but there was little humor behind it.
“Nicola McCann.”
The name was familiar but he was sure he had never met her.
“And you are sitting in my house for what reason?”
“Your mother hired me.”
“For what?”
“I’m your sober companion. We're going to be best friends for the next three months.”
About the Author
From an early age, USA Today Bestselling author Melissa loved to read. First, it was the books her mother read to her including her two favorites, Winnie the Pooh and the Beatrix Potter books. She cut her preteen teeth on Trixie Belden and read and reviewed To Kill a Mockingbird in middle school. It wasn’t until she was in college that she tried to write her first stories, which were full of angst and pain, and really not that fun to read or write. After trying several different genres, she found romance in a Linda Howard book.
Since her first published book, Grace Under Pressure, Mel has had over 60 short stories, novellas, and novels published. She has written in genres ranging from historical to contemporary to futuristic and has worked with 8 publishers although she handles most of her publishing herself. She is best known for her Harmless and Santini series.
