"Are you okay?" He asked and stopped cold when her scent filled his lungs. "You're pregnant." He blurted out and Jina's head snapped up, her amber gaze meeting his. Fear tinted their scents and he didn't understand why they were panicking.
"What did you just say?" Celina snapped then tapped her hands against her hips. "Oh, mom is definitely going to kick your ass." Celina shook her head a few times.
"I can't be pregnant, Dominic." She shoved her hands through her hair keeping it back as she spat on the ground once more. "It was just one night, yes it happened a few times but still." She cleared off her face and sighed.
"My nose can smell it." Dominic grabbed her hand and pulled her close. Her scent had changed but it still held the wonderful tones of earthy magic. With her close his wolf calmed down and everything, even Celina faded away. He barely resisted the urge to scoop her up and take her to his truck. His wolf however had no issues pushing images of her spread open on his bed into his mind.
"Did he just say smell it?" Another woman approached from the south with a man, both older. Their familiar scent gave Dominic a slight warning they might be here with Jina. What is this a family reunion? He bit back his comment. Jina's eyes widened and she bit her lower lip.
"I don't think so, mom. This is Dominic." Jina smiled and turned to face her mother. Anger pulsed from the woman, her blue gaze met Dominic while magic hummed through the air.
"Did you mate with a wolf?" The mother hissed and Jina's back straightened up. Celina took a few steps back away from Jina right into a tree.
"I did. And it's none of your concern." Jina lifted her chin and Dominic held pride for his little mate for standing up for herself.
"Clay." She nodded toward the male.
"I've got it, Ria." Clay snapped his fingers and the rest of the world went quiet. His brown hair lifted as magic pulsed from the guy's body.
Dominic's wolf surged forward trying to get out but he kept her down. Tension grew to strong and shifting could only make things worse.
"No daughter of mine will be mated with a wolf." Clay glared daggers into Dominic and if he were a weaker wolf, he might bow down to the witches in the little bubble he created.
"Mom, they imprinted. You can't just ignore that." Celina pitched in but Ria just glared at her younger daughter. At least one is on their side. He hoped he could convince Jina's parents to calm down and understand he would never hurt their little girl. Shit, I'm going to be a parent soon. Things had gone from calm to shit storm crazy so fast, he didn't really have time to think about how his own feelings on the matter.
"Ma'am I want nothing from your daughter other than her happiness." Dominic pulled her close and her head pressed into chest. His beast still paced under the surface but didn't keep pushing forward with Jina so close.
"My name is Ria, mutt. And you better watch what you say because no one would be able to hear your screams inside this little dome Clay created." Ria's smile made his stomach turn even as the woman's blue gaze moved over to her daughter's. "You live in my house and you will come home with me right now!" More energy pulsed from the witch family. Even Jina radiated with magic but he didn't worry about hers.
"I turned eighteen four months ago, mother. I'm not your little girl anymore." Jina looked up at Dominic and in that moment, he wanted to pull her away from her parents but he needed her to make the choice. "Plus, after another eight months I'll be allowed to leave the coven if I choose." She folded her arms in front of her chest. That's my mate, so freaking strong.
"If you stay here in this human city you won't be able to practice magic, leaving you weak and defenseless." Clay hissed and pulled his daughter away from Dominic's grip. Damn it, no! Ria grabbed Celina's hand and in a puff of smoke they all vanished. Slowly the bubble faded leaving Dominic staring at the place his mate had been. A growl vibrated through his lungs making a couple walking by jump. His phone buzzed and he yanked it out of his pocket.
'She bound my magic for a month and put a locator spell on me. Both will last a few months. I'm so sorry but I can't stay away from the coven for more than a few days without permission from the elders. My parents have a lot of influence here and won't allow it.' Jina's message only gave him more questions than answers, but he was dealing with magic users and he only knew bits and pieces of what they could do. Apparently vanishing into thin air was totally normal for Jina but not him.
Anger pulsed through his body. He could never image having such controlling parents, his own mother had been overly excited to hear he had found his mate. His wolf howled with frustration and resumed his steady pacing.
'I will come for you.' He replied and shoved his phone back in his pocket. Determination filled his chest, in nine months he would be having a little one. Excitement and nervous tension pooled in his stomach. He jogged to his truck and headed to the alpha then the store. He needed to move out of the house he shared with two other guys and needed one of his own for him and his family. Even though he had a few months to prepare he wanted to get started sooner rather than later. I'm going to have a family. The idea rolled around as he hit the gas. His wolf grinned at the idea of having a little boy to play and shift with.
