He bent down and kissed me, murmuring how beautiful I was. I didn’t think I was, but his words made me feel it, and if I wasn’t, he wouldn’t be with me like this, because he was perfection.
“Cuore mio, anima mia, vita mia,” I said to him.
He stilled inside of me, his eyes so wide, then he smiled and brushed my hair aside. “You are my heart, my soul, my life too.”
I couldn’t believe he was saying my words back to me. He’d told me to go away on the first day we’d met, yet now he was saying I was everything to him. We had barely seen each other; hadn’t even dated, but then again, I was always thinking about him, and imagining him holding me like this and uttering words of love. And now he was saying he thought the same way. I was in a dream; I had to be, because this couldn’t be real.
“Sembra che sto sognando quando sto con te,” I said, telling him I felt like I was dreaming when I was with him.
“I feel the same way.” He leaned down and kissed me.
I kissed him back with so much passion. I wanted him, I needed him; he was mine, no one else’s, not his fiancé’s. MINE.
And I would do anything for him.
