Bryce’s loyal nurse had terrified me at first, but the more she saw how good he and I were for each other, the more she’d warmed up to the new woman in Bryce’s life. I think she was glad he wasn’t a bachelor anymore, and that he didn’t want to stay at the hospital past the end of their shifts without good cause these days.
“Tell her I said thanks tonight when you go in, pretty please,” I said with a smile. “Do you think dinner’s ready yet? I’m starving, Dr. Daniels!”
“Oh, it’s ready,” he said with a sly grin. “But I think it can wait for a little while, don’t you?”
When he stood and scooped me up into his arms, I cried out in pleasure, but he silenced me with a deep kiss. “I love it when you do that, and I’m so glad I don’t have to worry about watching out for a broken collar bone anymore,” I whispered when we came up for air.
“Honey, I’m glad you still love it,” Bryce replied with longing in his eyes. “And to think it all started with me scooping you up in the ER waiting room, so I could get you healed up.”
“You healed so much more than my collar bone, my love.”
“As did you, honey,” Bryce said as he carried me toward the master bedroom we now shared.
I smiled, closed my eyes, and pressed my cheek against Bryce’s chest. He was right—dinner could definitely wait.
