Maggie put out her hand and he held it in both of his. “I’m glad you did.”
“And I want to know everything, and hear everything. I was going to wait outside until it was a decent hour to knock. But when I drove up and saw your lights still on, I knew it must have been a long night for you. I saw Gussie’s van, so I knew you weren’t alone, and…”
“You knocked. And I’m all right, and you’ve driven all the way from Ohio.”
“Started yesterday afternoon. I wanted to be with you.”
Maggie stood up and turned off the kettle, and Will stood behind her, holding her gently, and then not so gently.
About the Author
Lea Wait comes from a long line of antiques dealers, including her mother, her grandmother, and her great-grandfather. She has owned her antique-print business for more than twenty-five years. She now lives in Edgecomb, Maine, where she runs the business and writes historical novels for young readers as well as the Maggie Summer series.
