Prez is smiling looking from one to the other. I take it as a good sign. He looks at me and nods. Damn a something people. He laughs. “So I wanted to let you know Lily is down in two weeks. She’ll be opening the shelters the week after.”
I look at Sheila and smile. I can’t wait. She’s smiling back and I know we’re thinking the same.
Prez takes her hand. “I need to ask, I know you didn’t plan on staying, but are you interested in being Eliza’s partner long-term?”
Really? I look at Darren, he nods. Oh my God. I hope she says yes. I watch her. She looks at every one of them then me. “I can’t leave her out there with the PD. Those women will bore the fuck out of her.” They all laugh, but I feel the tears in my eyes and blink them back. She’s smiling at me. “You good?” she asks with her cocky smirk.
“Yep.” They laugh more. What the fuck ever.
