“I never trusted them.” Chandra grabbed more hummus. “What’s going to happen to Tara now?”
“Gone with the wind?” I suggested, and cringed. It was a pretty awful pun.
“And the maple highboy?” Kate asked.
Ah, the maple highboy . . .
I held my glass up to the light of the evening sun and smiled, and sure, my Miss Scarlett accent was as bad as ever, but hey, it seemed appropriate. “Well, fiddle-dee-dee. Don’t you know, that maple highboy is being delivered here tomorrow. The Twins needed money to pay their defense attorney.” My laugh was as light as my mood. “Bless their hearts.”
