His deep green eyes took her in. His expression showed nothing. He had salt and pepper hair and a chiseled face.
Tilting her head at him she said, “You were in the forest.”
He nodded.
“You...” She gulped a bit then started again, “...killed Matt.”
The man of few words again, nodded.
Swinging her gaze back to Max, she stared at him.
“This is Bane...He’s part of the group. The scary part,” Max explained.
James laughed. “Oh shit, he made another joke.”
“Yeah. Ha...Ha.” The man in the front seat replied but his lips tilted up a bit into an almost smile.
Alybella still felt a bit lost and wondered how this all came to be. But she really didn’t care as long as it was real. She turned to look at Max.
He grasped her face in both hands. “You beat him Alybella. You did it.”
“I had help,” she said as she again glanced over at the man in the passenger seat.
Bane raised his hands up. “You fought hard. I just made it final.”
Turning her head back to Max, she smiled, though she was still shaking all over.
“Now, we start,” Max whispered to her then leaned in to kiss her deeply.
Alybella didn’t have to ask what he meant as she kissed him back with all she had.

I live in a small town (population495) in Wisconsin. From my deck, I can see the Mississippi River on one side and the bluffs, where eagles live and nest on the other side. I live with my husband Dave and dog Buddy. My two children are grown and I have two grandchildren. I love to watch people and that has helped me with my writing. I often use people I watch as characters in my books and I always try to give my characters some of my own values and habits.
I love to create characters and put them in a troubling situation then sit back and let them do all the work. My characters surprise even me at times. At some point in the book, they take on a life of their own and the twists and turns they create becomes the story. Of all the stories I could write, I found I like suspense/thrillers the best. I like to keep my readers guessing until the very end of the book.
