Damien moved to the front of the bench and looked deep into Lucas’ eyes. “I won’t break skin. If I see blood, we stop.”
“Yes, sir,” Lucas said, hopeful.

Lucas twisted in his arms, to face him. “Five? Are you trying to kill yourself?”
“Nope,” Damien answered with a smile. “We’ve got three new foremen hired and Jax’s brother Jason is coming in to help.”
“Jax’s twin?”
“Yep. He lives in Brietland and things are a little slow over there since the mill closed. He’s bringing a crew over to get his guys some work. If things work out, he might make it an official move.”
“Brietland isn’t in good shape. He’d be wise to move.”
“So his brother keeps telling him.”
“So things are going well with the guys?” Lucas asked with a smile. “That’s good to know.”
Damien smiled. “Things are going very well. I’m getting pretty handy with a hammer.”
“As I recall, you prefer to do the hammering. Wasn’t that what you once told me?”
Damien laughed.
“You know, this whole blue-collar construction worker vibe you’ve got going on here lately is pretty sexy. Other than the exhaustion level.”
“Soon. Things will level off soon, and I can spend more time with you,” Damien said before kissing Lucas.

Damien threaded a hand behind Lucas’ head and lifted him for a kiss. He nearly took Lucas’ breath away, the kiss quickly turning fiery. When Damien finally pulled back, his lips quirked into a smile. “I love you, too.”
