You are the very best thing that’s ever happened to me, Mr. Avery.
I hope you know how deeply I love you. XO Bella
I love you, too, my princess.
Unconditionally.
Sweet dreams. -Adam
I set my phone back onto the nightstand and stare at the ceiling, trying for what seems hours to force myself to sleep. I’m nearly there, her words vibrating through my core when I hear my phone chime once again. I roll onto my back and reach for it, the small smirk on my lips slipping away instantly when I see it’s not her after all.
Every kingdom must eventually fall.
Particularly those who are too distracted to protect their queen.
I glance up at the top of the screen, frustrated when I find the text coming from an unknown number. I don’t waste time in responding, my temper flaring.
Who the fuck is this? -AA
It’s mere seconds before my phone chimes once more, an image of the pink teddy bear Bella had just been gripping lying abandoned on the pillows that line the private balcony outside her bedroom.
My blood runs cold.
I dart out of bed, my heart racing as I clear the distance between her bedroom and mine in a hurry. Relief like I’ve never known flows through me when I find Bella fast asleep, the bear still resting gently against her chest. I pull her door shut silently, giving a signal to the two security guards patrolling just outside on the terrace as my phone chimes once more.
Are you scared yet?
Where the fuck are you? -AA
Everywhere.
