“Do you?” he asked.
“Recently, yes.”
“I could help you sleep,” he said. “After all, I’m a doctor.”
“I don’t want to take any more pills.”
Note to self: did I need to take the Waxinine anymore? I could always test myself next month.
I got an image, then, of running through the dark Texas night, feeling alive and free as I never had. Then I saw him, a large wolf at my side. Not in front of me. Not commanding, but simply keeping me company.
That image faded to be replaced by another. My big wide bed and Mark naked in the middle of it, arms and legs spread wide. His skin was glistening with sweat and he was panting.
I’d worn him out.
Be still my heart.
“Did you just send me that picture?” I asked, my own breathing a little ragged.
“Maybe I’m precognitive.”
I sent him a look.
My libido came racing out of its cave. Is it time? Is it?
Mark only smiled at me.
