      About This Book

      A note from the Author.

      If you want to get technical about it, I’ve been working on this book for more than twenty years.

      This is a small collection of poems I have written spanning from my teenage years way back when hot pink was really hot and black was what I wore before it was cool. Some of these poems are very badly written. Okay, a lot were badly written. Probably all of them were badly written. They’re cheesy, awkward, and could use a sledgehammer and a work over.

      Most of these poems touch on fantasy and myth -- but a couple are born from my cultural heritage.

      Usually I write science fiction, fantasy, and a splash of romance. If I do write poetry, the work has a very high chance of becoming lyrics to a song and getting tucked into a folder somewhere to be forgotten. Rarely am I moved to get completely poetic, so I hope you enjoy this collection. Even the badly-written parts.

      Unrequited, Returned,

      and Otherwise Sentimental Mush

      ~*~

      Just about everyone has written about that love lost, or the person who never returned their affections, or just wanted to bemoan the cruel fate of natural selection. In that, the poems in this section are pretty typical – even the ones that used myth and fantasy to get the point across.

      Delights

      Secure delights;

      Your touch up my back

      to my breasts, a gentle caress,

      while you hungrily eat my neck;

      Your lips follow the chills.

      I sigh, and leaning

      Favors returned for want of full glory

      Sliding over me makes me slide onto you

      So that I touch you

      Surround you

      Creating new fervor

      Taking away breath

      Taking what you can give

      Ecstasy.

      Joining

      Trembling,

      The angel hides her face

      In the arms of comfort.

      Pearl wings stretch forth;

      Gesture of protection,

      Tenderness,

      A seal,

      Bonding.

      Strong arms wrapping her shell,

      Soft voice glowing in her heart,

      Lips making sounds of reassurance;

      Shhhh,

      Calming,

      Peacefulness.

      Two hearts have joined

      For the sake of love.

      My Fair Lady

      We sang songs in the sunlight;

      Good things of mirth and merriment

      That tripped off our tongues

      Chiming like bells in the cab of my truck.

      I was smiling because you were,

      Sitting there singing with you

      While the train held us up in

      Afternoon traffic.

      Red

      Baby, you look good in red.

      It makes you strut unconsciously

      Like a peacock, you sexy thing.

      It highlights your eyes and your lips.

      Red like cherries in crimson wine,

      Red like your jacket…

      Walk by me one more time!

      Red may mean stop, but baby,

      It means go,

      And I would if I could.

      But I won’t, no…

      You do look good in red

      Like ripe passion fruit,

      Ready for the tasting

      Or poison berries on a bush, inviting

      Me to pluck them one by one

      Damn, you look good in red!

      It sizzles on your skin,

      I feel the heat radiating

      Making me want to warm myself

      Against you until I’m baked crispy brown

      Come back this way, and let me feast my eyes

      On your smart lines,

      Your scarlet energy that smacks me

      Burning my cheeks and making me blush.

      I’m flushed!

      Oh baby….

      You look so good in red.

      Mmm!
