“Whom do I address?” the deep voice rasped.

      “Isafor Voktere, my Lord.”

      “Not the original?”

      “No. A relative.”

“Arise, Isafor and fetch me a drink.”

Isafor barked at a Vokteren and a goblet of fine wine materialised quickly. The man before him was dressed head to toe in black, his long blonde hair tied back, his face looked like it was carved from marble, and he had the blackest of eyes.

“How long have I been asleep?”

      “Close to two millennia.”

“That long? And where is my heir?”

“Your heir is still in his mother’s womb.”

“Then how did he awaken me?”

“His mother cut herself and as they share the same blood at the moment, it was the same as him touching your tomb.”

Valkarin’s black eyes surveyed the cave. “I see no woman present. Bring her to me.”

“That is a little tricky, my Lord. She lives in the First Realm.”

“A First Realmer carries my heir. How is this possible?”

“The father is a descendant of yours from the Second Realm. Heinrekh of Vasmaar.”

“I need to feast and drink. Two millennia of abstinence has left me weak. Where are my quarters?”

“We have arranged for you to stay in Isleberg Castle, My Lord. It is on the edge of the Third Realm. I thought you would be comfortable there whilst you catch up on the last two thousand years.”

“Well lead on man, I have a thirst. And bring me the woman.”

“That is beyond our power, my Lord.”

      “How so?”

      “She is protected.”

      “By whom?” Valkarin snorted.

“Heinrekh and her friend, Priestess of Lokmuir Erin McLomard.”

“A McLomard?” Valkarin gave the chilliest of smiles. “I’ve not had the pleasure of battling a McLomard for a very long time.” He swept along the corridor, his long black cloak trailing after him. “I shall enjoy meeting Erin McLomard shortly.”
