Author’s Note!
Although this book is a work of fiction, the Central Intelligence Agency, or the CIA, or The Company, is alive and well in the United States. Their charter is to provide intelligence outside the borders of the United States. In recent years, they have been known to provide intelligence inside our borders. Due to world and local terrorists, that has become the norm.
This story is about a young woman who gets a job with the CIA and immediately goes into action. After a near-death experience she gains a reputation of finding and dealing with particularly young women and girls that have been taken or kidnapped for the slave industry. It may seem strange to Americans, but the slave industry is also alive and well in the rest of the world, if not inside our own borders.
Lynda has to protect her own family from the terrorists as they come after her inside the United States. She finally has enough and takes the fight to them.

1C I A - The Slave Traders
Lynda Lanelle Lassiter is a modestly attractive girl who has had her fair share of boyfriends. The problem that she has had with boys is, they get too serious. She just wants to play and have fun. She is a little different than most girls; instead of cheerleading, she has been into judo and karate. She has just graduated from high school and will turn nineteen in August. She is trying hard to decide what to do next. Her dad wants her to go to a local college, but Lynda has been thinking about getting a job and moving out from home. She wants a taste of the real world, not the protected life she has led for the last eighteen years. Real jobs come hard. She has tried all year long, and the results have been less than thrilling.
Recently, she answered an ad in a magazine that said, “Work for the Government, See the World,” and gave a phone number. She called the number and they sent her a package full of forms to fill out. She had to enclose a picture and answer a psychological profile. Other than that job or position, she does not have any other options available. She does not want to work at a burger joint. She wants something exciting.
Everyday she would wait on the postman to see if there was an answer to her request, so far, nothing. She had gotten to know the postman very well. His name was Dennis; he was an older guy, in his early twenties. He would stop and talk to Lynda every day. She knew that he was going to ask her out. He wasn’t necessarily exciting, but he was mature to Lynda.
She was standing by the mail box in a tee shirt, shorts and tennis shoes with her blonde hair in a ponytail, when Dennis drove up. He smiled and handed her the letter. It looked official. She just held it in her hands.
Dennis said, “Hey, Lynda, let’s go out and celebrate Friday night?”
She wasn’t thinking straight. She said, “Sure, Dennis, what time?” She was fingering the flap on the envelope.
Dennis was beaming. “I will pick you up at seven and we will go to dinner, okay?”
She still wasn’t thinking; she said, “Okay!” Dennis watched her “bounce” back into the house. He just shook his head. He ran his right index finger over his left ring finger, and smiled.
She sat on the sofa and carefully tore the envelope open. It was from the United States Central Intelligence Agency, the CIA! It asked her to come to the Federal building in Dallas on June 24th for an interview. The time of her appointment was ten a.m..
She pulled the letter to her breasts and held it tightly. She wanted to scream out loud, but just murmured, “Yes!” June 24th was next Wednesday. She needed her birth certificate and her high school diploma. Then the image of Dennis’s face appeared in her mind. She had agreed to go out with him. Damn, she thought. She really did not know anything about him. He could be a serial rapist. She went and took one of her dad’s pocket knives and put it in her purse.
She showed her mother the letter, and then her dad when he came in from work. Neither smiled.
She called all her girlfriends and told them, “I am about to become a woman of the world!”
Each of her girlfriends squealed with delight! They all wanted her to get them a job also. Lynda realized that she was now something special. She had a lot to do in the next few days.
She did not see Dennis again until he pulled up in her driveway Friday night. He was in a lig
ht brown SUV; kinda odd, she thought. She ran out and got in the passenger door. She did not want her parents to see who she was going out with. Dennis offered her a “little” kiss; Lynda ignored him. Dennis was all smiles. He looked different without his postal uniform on. What was it? He looked younger, maybe more immature; she was not sure.
Dennis took her to a little “hole in the wall” place across town. It was an Italian joint. Dennis had three mixed drinks, and tried to give one to Lynda. She declined his offer.
After dinner he asked her about going to see a movie. She said, “Sure.” She just wanted the night to be over. He was not near as much fun as she had hoped.
When they got to the movie theater, Dennis bought a big box of popcorn for them to share, and two Cokes. They found the movie and Lynda sat to his left, just by coincidence. Dennis did not seem to want to share the popcorn. Which was fine with Lynda: she was still “full” from the meal.
After the box was empty Dennis set it down on the floor and put his left hand on her knee. She gently took his hand and put it on the arm rest. She looked at his hand. There was a white spot where a ring would go on his ring finger. It was barely noticeable. Lynda leaned over to Dennis and asked, “Are you married?”
He frowned and said, “Yes, but we are getting a divorce.” Nothing else was said between them until the movie was over.
When it was over, Dennis stood up and said, “Well, that was fun. What shall we do next?”
Lynda stood up. She was still stunned that she was out with a married man.
