He laughed. “Yes, soon-to-be wife.” She smiled and looked down at the ring again, then chuckled.
“I’ll be right back.” She disappeared towards the laundry room.
He sat there, his hands over his eyes, almost floating in the knowledge that she’d said yes.
He heard her shuffle back into the room, then something heavy and soft was set in his lap.
“Okay,” she said, but before he could remove his hands, a wet tongue ran over the back of his hand.
He jumped and then laughed as he was attacked by a chunky white puppy.
“It’s a lab, not full blood, but… then again, you did say you wanted a dumb dog.” She laughed and sat next to him as the dog jumped up to lick his face.
“Yes, I did.” He laughed and hugged the dog to his chest. Then he pulled her into his lap and kissed her while the dog nibbled on his sweater.
