One Month Prior…
V.J. started to squirm and shift in my arms. “Shhh, mother is here, my darling.”
The source of his commotion was Pan entering our hideout. “Yep, we’re clear,” he assured me. “I think it’s time we get some back up, Izabella.”
There were few people we had to turn to. “Are you suggesting?”
“He has the Eye and once he knows he has a kid, he’ll follow along with us.”
I hated it when Pan had a good idea. The child was damn near impossible to deal with when he started gloating. “We wait until we know the angels have moved on.”
“And what of Coyote?”
The Native American deity was still out there, too. I failed on my first attempt to defeat him and retrieve the Sword of the Fallen. Somehow, the daemon had come into possession of it, he bragged about during our first encounter. My only guess was he had defeated the angel who was responsible for guarding it. Had I not been pregnant and at my full Cain-infused power, I may have been able to defeat him.
Pan was getting antsy. “Maybe I can go torture a few of these Indians for some answers.”
“Yes, go.” With a smile, Pan left us and V.J. settled back in happily asleep. “Good, sleep my angel. Soon, your father will come to us and we can be the family we were meant to be, together as one.
