“More than what I have just been through and seen tonight?” It took him a minute to respond.

“Yeah, definitely.” He pushed the blanket off of him and grabbed his shirt.

He had since put on pants, a shame in Fiona’s opinion, and was now slipping on his shirt. It should have been illegal to cover up his body. “What’s going to happen with his body?” When Landon had brought her back to his cabin he had gone back out and collected Jonas’s body. She didn’t know where he had put it, and didn’t really care. He could have tossed it over the mountain if it meant no one would ever get hurt again.

“It will be collected by my kind once I notify them, which I’ll do when I take you into town.” He stood in front of me and held out his hand. “Come on, I’ll take you back into town.”

She let him help her up, albeit painfully, and grabbed her shoes. She had since put her shorts and tank back on. They were dirty, but she felt more like herself with them on. They walked to the front door and when he opened it she had to shield her eyes from the sun. They stepped onto the front porch and she took in the scenery. The storm had done a number to the trees, but the fresh scent of clean filled the air.

As they made their way to his truck she couldn’t help but think about what would happen next. As if he read her mind he answered.

“Would you like to get some breakfast?”

She had her hand on the door handle and smiled. “I would love to.” He smiled back and they both got into the truck. He cranked the engine and before they started moving he reached for her hand. She had a feeling last night had somehow brought Landon and her closer together. She didn’t know how long it would last, but she knew she wanted to try. She had felt something for him the moment she had first seen him. She was living in a world that didn’t make sense, but with him by her side to explain the crazy things on the way, she knew she would be alright.
