ABOUT THE AUTHOR
JEAN CRAIGHEAD GEORGE was born in Washington, D.C., and graduated from Pennsylvania State University. A naturalist, Mrs. George traveled extensively to observe and report on the behavior of animals in the wild. This careful observation, coupled with her love for writing, resulted in over eighty outstanding books about nature and animals. Julie of the Wolves won a Newbery Medal in 1973.
