Shep was born in October of 1994 just before the start of a huge winter in the mountains of Squaw Valley, California. He grew up on the snowy streets of a very tough, free-roaming dog neighborhood with lots of bully dogs and hungry coyotes and even bears too.
Jason Matthews got Shep from the Angry People in 1995 when Shep was still a puppy. They became best friends forever and did lots of fun things, like hiking up mountains, and swimming in lakes, and throwing Frisbees and visiting with Ruby Girl.
