Jared cried out, his voice echoing around the cave as he came, his hips lifting off the ground, to push up inside her, straining to push deeper into her sex. Jerking his hips, he emptied his seed into her, until he was utterly spent, and he slumped back down to the ground, his breathing ragged.
Kelly leaned forward, her lips kissing his chest, and then his neck, feeling the warmth of his body like a furnace against her cold skin. Lifting her head, she looked into his eyes, her fingers stroking his cheek, and then touching his dimples. “I always found these adorable.”
He laughed, his chest rumbling against her. “I have never been called adorable in my whole life.”
“You have never had me in your life before.”
“I know,” he said, his hand fisting her hair, and his mouth claiming hers. He kissed her fiercely, full of longing and desire. “My life changed the first moment I saw you. It’s just taken me a while to accept it.”
“It might take me a lot longer to accept you are a man who can turn into a bear,” she said, snuggling against him.
“We’ve got all the time in the world.” He held her close, and kissed her cheek. “Now that I have you, I’ll never let you go.”
“You might change your mind and want a refund.”
“Never,” he said, and she believed him.
Chapter Seventeen – Jared
“He is beautiful,” Jared’s mom said as she stroked the baby’s head.
“Just like his mom,” Jared said, smiling. He looked over to where Kelly was standing talking to his brother Ryan. They had all gathered together for the baby’s naming day. The birth of a new Sinclair bear cub was something to be celebrated.
Kelly, as if sensing his gaze, looked up and smiled at him, and then spoke to Ryan before walking over to Jared. He could feel her presence, and with each step she took, that feeling became stronger.
“You made a good choice,” Jared’s mom said.
“I had no choice,” he said. “The mate bond is too strong. I understand more now about what it was like when Dad left.”
She placed a hand on his arm. “It’s in the past. I hope, with the birth of this little man, I can see a way to happiness.”
“I hope so, Mom,” he said, as he turned as Kelly approached, and kissed her on the cheek. “Everything went well.”
“Better than I thought.” She took the baby from Jared, stroked his round baby cheeks and then kissed his head. “Typical that Thomas here would sleep through the whole thing.”
“At least he didn’t cry. Like his father did on his naming day,” Jared’s mom said.
Kelly laughed. “Thank you for letting us use the house.”
“How could I say no? The house belongs to Jared.”
“It’s your home, Mom,” Jared said. “We are going to go and live in the cabin for a while, until this little guy has to go to school.”
“Are you sure?” his mom asked.
“Yes. I have a lot of time to make up to my bear. And now I’ve sold the company, I think it’s a good idea.”
“It’s not as if it’s far away. I’ll have to come back to the city every week for my mom’s treatment,” Kelly said.
“How is she?” Jared’s mom asked, looking over to where Kelly’s mom was walking across the larger lawn with her two boys, who were kicking a football.
“So much better. I can’t believe it. It’s like she has her life back.” Kelly smiled up at Jared. “Thank you.”
“What’s mine is yours.”
“You know the only thing I want is your heart, not your money.”
It had taken Jared a few weeks to persuade Kelly to keep the money and use it to help her mom. She hadn’t wanted him to think she was only after his money.
“We are family now,” Jared’s mom said kindly. “We all can see how much you love Jared. And this little chap makes it all complete.”
Jared turned to look around the garden. It was late autumn, but the weather had been kind and the day was perfect. Everything was perfect. His family, his wife, and his child. They were about to embark on a new venture, one he was looking forward to. Once Thomas was old enough, they intended to take the round-the-world vacation Jared had once planned.
As he stood and breathed in the autumn air, he could almost imagine his time in the city hadn’t happened, that he had never been that stuffy-suited man who had offered a woman money in return for a weekend of sex.
He had changed so much, and instead of him having a bond he had to bear, he had a bond he wanted to strengthen, and enjoy, for the rest of their lives.
