“Yes,” Sahara responded. “You?”
“Have you heard of the Sons of Josiah?” I asked.
“Everybody has,” she responded. “Robert talked about your vampire sect all the time. He believes in you guys. He feels you are the only vampire group left that has a conscience.”
“That's good to know. Where do you stand?” Josiah asked.
“I don't stand anywhere. I decided a few years back, the best way for me to keep my sanity was to not choose sides and just live the life I was given.”
“How is that working out for you?” Josiah asked.
“I don't bother anyone and they don't bother me.” Sahara unlocked the back gate of the truck and peeled open the door.
“You want me to wake up the others, so we can unload the truck?” I asked.
“Nah, you and I can do it in a minute.” Josiah gave me an interesting look. I read it to say, go inside for a few minutes and let me spend some more time alone with this woman.
I smiled, grabbed a stack of boxes, and carried them inside.
Josiah seemed to like this woman. He definitely was smiling ear to ear the whole time they were talking. It had been a couple of years since his wife had died, and he was a man after all, and this was a beautiful woman.
