He leans down and we kiss.
“Gross!” Elsa says.
“Hey, you were just kissing a manatee a minute ago,” I say.
“Yeah, but that’s an animal. It’s cute.”
“You’re dad’s an animal too. You can believe that,” I say.
Elsa shakes her head and dives back into the water with her oversized snorkel mask.
“Isn’t she too cute for words?” I ask.
“She’s too cute for words, but her mom is too beautiful for words.”
I turn and wink at Braden.
“And you’re also a very, very smart woman,” he says.
“And why is that?”
“Because I am an animal!” he says, burying his face in my neck making noises like an animal attacking me.
“Hey that tickles!” I say.
“No, this tickles,” he says as his fingers find my ribs and I’m suddenly a giggling mess.
He may be my older man, but he sure knows how to keep things light…like a kid at play.
And all these kids at play in front of us are thanks to him. Our kids.
Our seven children…and who knows…maybe more one day.
One day soon if he gets his way.
