Tricia Brassington, Jeannine Taylor, Shelagh Murry (who introduced me to NaNoWriMo in 2005 and therefore got me here in the first place), Heather Mitchell, Judy Gascho-Jutzi, and Cat Hummel all helped me to try and get Jason to speak and behave like a true Canadian. The decision to make him Canadian in the first place was all thanks to Cat—I really hope I did a good job with him.

During the editing process I decided to change the name of one of my main characters, and I turned to Facebook to help me; so I’d like to thank Chris Gage, Johanna Malin, Barb Stricsek, Lindsay Healy, Natalie Tamplin, Kate Matrunola, Sharon M. Godfrey, Jody Conklin, Jo Bober, and Becky Allatt, who all suggested that “Barbara” would be the best name for her.

I want to express my gratitude to the staff at i2 (IBM) in Cambridge, who generously gave up their time to help me produce fictional Analyst’s Notebook charts for this book. John Gresty, Ron Fitch, and Steve Dalzell looked after me and made sure I knew what I was doing with the software; Julian Midwinter, Patrick Miller, and Stephanie Juergens-Joerger worked hard to help me get the permission I needed to use the charts in the book. Most of all, I want to thank Christian McQuillan, who was the one who answered the phone to me that day and must surely have regretted it. Without doubt this book would have been a very different one without him, and I am enormously grateful for his tenacity, patience, and warmth.

As always, I’m very thankful for the support and love of my wonderful family, and especially my boys David and Alex, who put up with me. I love you lots.
