END OF BOOK STUFF
I finally got my rock star book! I’ve been wanting to write one for ages. Originally, Ethan in White Hot was gonna be a singer, but I figured he worked better as a producer/DJ. And now I might end up with four rock star books, because I kinda like the other guys in the band too. We’ll see what happens there.
If you’re eagle eyed, you may have noticed Alana had a change of eye colour between Shallow Graves and Indigo. This is why we have editors, folks. I’m fricking useless at writing character notes, and I totally forgot I’d given her amber eyes until Nikki, my wonderful editor, said “hang on a second…” Because amber-eyes is a dumb nickname and also because I already have a character called Amber, I’ve changed Alana’s eye colour in Shallow Graves, and we’ll just have to assume that she was wearing coloured contacts in the original version :)
Did I mention I love coloured contacts? Easiest Halloween costume ever. Blackout contacts, add vampire teeth and a trickle of fake blood, voila. Unless of course the fake blood stains your face and you have to spend the day explaining to the folks at work why it looks like you’ve been dribbling Ribena.
I’m writing this from Le Mans, currently freezing my ass off at 6 a.m. in a tent, cursing because I don’t know how to work the coffee machine and nobody else is awake. Where’s Emmy when you need her? And also croissants. I need croissants. And a heater. It’s so cold I’m strongly considering going running to warm up. Although I’ll perhaps change out of pyjamas first.
But it’s worth a little discomfort to be here. Not so much because of the cars—which are awesome, by the way—but because of the people. I’m truly lucky to be part of an awesome team on the Mulsanne Straight. We call it the European post, although a few Americans usually turn up too, and it’s wonderful to see so many friends new and old from all over the world. In part, this place inspired the Blackwood series—the coming together of a diverse group of people who have each other’s backs, who work together to get things done, and even though we don’t see each other in person all that often, when we do, it’s like we’ve never been apart.
Anyhow, enough sentimentality… I’ve got pastries to buy and warm socks to find. Until next time…which will be either Copper or Stolen Hearts—I haven’t decided which yet.
Happy reading!
Elise
