“Oh! Diamonds?” Heather asked, her interest piqued.
Seth laughed. “Not if he knows what’s good for him. Phoebe isn’t exactly a jewelry girl unless it’s vintage jewelry or silver.”
“Daggers then?” Heather whispered, and I saw the woman open her mouth in shock as if women didn’t have a weapons collection.
“God, I hope so,” I said and ripped the lid off. I stared down at the gorgeous rose-gold hilt with a gleaming silver blade, taking in the intricate design that crept like vines up the hilt. “Oh, Dax. It’s gorgeous,” I gushed. “I can’t believe you did this.”
“Why wouldn’t I? Only the best for my girl, right?” Dax pulled me into a hug while I fought to hold back tears.
He glanced down at me. “Tears for the dagger but not for your brother moving here permanently?”
I huffed out a laugh. “That dagger is a total piece of art.”
“So are you, Phoebs,” he said. “So are you.”
