Joe’s phone bleated for attention. “Vaughan will be waiting for us in Sanford,” he said taking out the phone and reading the menu. “And as for Amy, you can mind your own business.” He made the connection and put the phone to his ear.
“Uncle Joe?”
“Lee? You’ve been pestering me all morning. What the hell do you want, boy?”
Lee’s voice sounded shaky and scared. “It’s The Lazy Luncheonette, Uncle Joe.”
“What about it?”
“It’s burned down.”
