“We can help,” Maddie declared. She didn’t decide to say that. She just said it. And she could see by the look on her brothers’ faces that they agreed
completely.
“You can?” J-Rod asked.
“Do you mind a roommate?” Max asked. “Do you mind a pet?” Theo asked.
“Do you mind a roommate that is a pet?” Maddie
and Max asked at the exact same time. They laughed.
“You are an interesting family,” J-Rod said, smiling hopefully.
“True story!”
“Houston, do you copy?” Marcus asked over the walkie-talkie. “You all getting along back there?”
“Notta foot!” “Notta fist!” “Notta finger!”
“Notta little green antinna, either!” Theo added. “Antenna,” his brother and sister corrected.
“YOU KNOW WHAT I MEANT!”

And that, dear readers, is how what happened in
Vegas got out of Vegas.
Bet you didn’t see that coming.
But I hope you were betting on the Mattigans (not your allowance, of course). They may be out there, but they’re doing the best they can, traveling through unmapped territory in a world where not everything is as it seems.
Some people call that trip Life.
Discuss among yourselves.
Meanwhile, I’ll get started sinking my teeth into the next Mattigan adventure.
It’s a bloody good one.
Here’s some advice for your trip: Keep your campers
unlocked, and don’t stop leaving those Mar-tian-mallows under the bunks. (See what I did there?)
