Kitt's heart was pounding so hard, she was afraid it would punch its way out of her chest. “I love you, Doon.”
“I love you too, Kitten.”
“Huh?” Kitt squeaked. She was sure she didn't hear him correctly. Surely she was only hearing what she wanted to hear.
And then he said it again. “I love you.”
“Well, then... now that that's settled...” Doon's grin stretched across the entire length of his face. Tapping her on the nose, he said, “Let's go back to the airship. Shall we?”
Kitt shook her head. For a moment, Doon looked worried, so she quickly put his mind at ease.
“Let's go home,” she shyly corrected him.
It might seem like the characters have their happy ending, but the story is far from over. Book four, The Lady Captain, will be released in July or August of 2017. The action moves to Columbigo, and many characters return. (Spoiler alert: it was a bad idea to let Loreina walk away).
