Fifteen Years Later- Fabio
“This is the last one,” Anabelle grumbles.
“I know. I promised you he’s our last,” I tell my beautiful wife. After all these years, she’s pregnant again. She’s about to rip my balls off because we have six kids now and another on the way.
“I meant the emails. I don’t want to look at my computer for the rest of the week.”
It’s Christmas Eve, and thankfully, we’re celebrating at Franco’s again. Honestly, after the chaos that unfolded last year, I’m grateful we’ve taken turns hosting. Last year we had more people than we had room for. We’re having an addition built onto our home in the spring because we have only ten bedrooms, and every single one was utilized along with the living room. Between all of our children, it’s gotten hectic so we take turns. Hell, Franco had considered expanding his home, but our oldest kids will be off to college in a couple of years, so it’s not worth it.
Anabelle’s parents passed away a few years ago, but the family always says a prayer for them, hoping they’re watching their grandbabies grow. My parents will be here, but my aunt and uncle will be staying with their kids for the holidays. With everyone married and popping out babies, we’ve grown our family exponentially, but it’s wonderful.
“Did you finish all the food for tonight?”
“It’s almost done, so we have about an hour before we leave. The kids are getting dressed now.” I hold her close, knowing she’s thinking about her parents. She always does as we get ready to celebrate. Kissing her cheek, I run my hands over her tender breasts and whisper, “Maybe we can…”

“All I wanted to say was Merry Christmas, my love.” I’m lying and she knows I am, but what can I say? I can’t stop loving her.
Twenty Years Later- Fabio
She comes down the aisle dressed in white, the snow having fallen all around outside just like her mother, twenty years ago. My sweet Camilla holds onto my arm, nervous and happy as she walks to her husband-to-be who’s itching to take my place. I laugh because I remember being him, and then I remember being him and I growl. “Daddy, please behave.”
“He wants to do things to you,” I confess, slowing down our pace which causes her fiancé to raise a brow and my wife to glare at me.
Camilla smiles at them and then whispers through clench teeth, “He’s about to be my husband, Daddy. That’s how these things work.”
“Yeah. Well, he’s lucky I like him.” I return to my regular pace and focus on my bride for support. I had no idea how painfully hard this moment would be. Giving away my princess and trusting her to another man. If he did anything to hurt her, I’d destroy him.
“I know. Now relax because you have one more daughter to walk down the aisle in about a week.” Damn it, maybe I can talk Chiara out of it.
“Like mother like daughters.” Anabelle takes that moment to wink at me and all my nerves are gone. Camilla’s the blushing bride and I’m the nervous one.
“And isn’t she a gem?” Camilla asks.
“The most beautiful one ever made. I love you, my sweet little girl.”
“Who gives this woman away?” the priest asks.
With pride, I say, “I do.” I kiss my baby girl’s cheek and take a seat to watch her marry the man she loves. Now I’m glad my brother held me back from dragging Anabelle away from her father. I lift my eyes up to the sky and say a silent blessing to the man who gave Anabelle to me all those years ago, so that I could have this moment today.
“She’s beautiful.”
“She looks just like you, my love.”
“Not quite, but she’s happy and that’s just how I felt when I became your wife.” Anabelle presses her head to my shoulder, and I kiss the top.
We watch our daughter marry and around our family and friends which have grown over the years. My parents thankfully have been able to be here for this occasion which does my heart a world of good.
As soon as the ceremony is over and we follow out the bride and groom, my brother claps my back with a chuckle. “You look like you were just about to run her out of here.”
“I wouldn’t laugh. Your twin girls are getting closer to marrying age and they look just as lovely as my girls.”
“Asshole.”
“Franco, we’re in the church.”
“Sorry, mama.” He takes her hand and kisses it. I do the same and apologize as well since I started it. She might be getting up in age, but I’m still a little scared of my mother.
“Boys, are you done picking on each other? We have a lot of photos to take and an amazing wedding reception to host,” Isabelle says. “Our team has been cooking and prepping all day. We can’t keep them waiting.” Isabelle loves helping Fiore’s with our catering department. It’s the only time Franco allows her to “work.” She loves it t
oo much to ever consider it work and her pay is always divided back up between the servers that day.
“Yes, of course, boss lady.” I wink and then take my wife’s arm and lead her down the stairs while everyone else takes their wives and leads them down.
In two generations our Fiore Family has grown so much, and I look forward to the new ones to come in the next couple of years. Our younger children are gathered around their newly married sister, hugging her and taking pictures with the photographer in tow.
Anabelle and I just stand and watch. It’s cold and Christmas Eve, but no one seems to care because they’re happy. “This wouldn’t have happened if you didn’t let me prove my love to you.”
“Thank you for proving me wrong.”
“I love you, Anabelle. Now and Forever.”
“Always, Fabio.”
