I can be ready to go by morning, but I’ll still have to pack for the kids. Bennett tries to help, but he has to do as much as he can on the ranch before we leave. It’s always that way. His ranch manager takes over and always does a tremendous job, but Bennett still likes to know what’s going on at all times.
“Greedy girl.” He kisses me hard. “Two days.” Bennett growls, spanks my ass, and then dashes from the room with a chuckling coming from deep within.
“It’s going to me a great trip,” I sigh, rolling onto my back with a smile.
Suddenly, Jane comes running into the room and jumps onto the bed. “Did Daddy tell you the surrise?” She can’t say the word at all. It’s so cute. I pull her into my arms and snuggle with my little girl.
“Yes he did.”
“Yay. No more secrets.” I roll my eyes over her head at my husband who’s leaning on the door frame.
The alarm for the front gate goes off. “The pizza’s early. Come on down, my favorite girls.”
“We’re coming, Daddy,” Jane cheers, yanking herself free.
I’m one lucky woman to have been attacked by a beast in the woods and live to enjoy every day afterward.
