My face heated in embarrassment. The only good thing out of this exchange was that I at least had proof that he wasn’t completely mute and could exchange more than a few words with me.
The elevator doors opened, and he stood aside to let me on first. Despite the arrogance I detected, he had manners.
“You’ll be assigned a parking space on the first level near the entrance and you’ll have a level five badge which will get you through a priority checkpoint rather than the main security line,” he stated as the cab shot upward. “I need you here on time. Do you understand?”
“Yes, sir.”
I looked at our reflection in the shiny glass panes of the cab. As we rode up alone, just the two of us, I finally realized that I might never get over how good-looking he was. But who was I kidding? He probably had women on their knees wanting to please him. Who wouldn’t be attracted to his man?
This was perfectly normal.
Lies.
We made eye contact in the mirror, but I didn’t look away. He was most definitely different. I could see it in the way he held his stance and carried himself. He was a dominant man, and if he was a shifter, he definitely wasn’t submissive.
But neither was I.
