    Landon Calling

“Because I’ve been hiding all day,” Twila snapped. “I thought being a missing person was the only way to get any attention … just like Donna. Clearly I was right. You finally found me. Congratulations.”

“Did we know you were missing?” I asked, confused.

Twila shot me a disgusted look. “You’re so not funny.” She flounced toward the door. “I’ll meet you inside for dinner. Don’t get too drunk. I can’t wait to see Marnie and Winnie’s faces when they realize I’m fine and not dead in a ditch somewhere.”

I leaned forward and watched her stride toward the inn. She had a purpose in her step. “Seriously, did we know she was missing?”

“I thought she was upstairs pouting all day,” Aunt Tillie replied, unbothered.

“Oh, well, that should make dinner a disturbing affair,” Bay muttered. “Pass me the wine.”

“Me first.” I kissed her nose before drinking a huge gulp of the wine, my cheeks immediately beginning to warm. “Come closer,” I whispered.

Bay grinned and did as instructed, grabbing the wine from my hand. “Are you still angry?”

      “Not so much.”

“Do you still want to have a fire?”

“Bay, I want to do everything with you.” I watched as she took a long drink of the wine, and then I snatched the bottle back. “That starts with getting drunk and getting through the rest of this conference. After that, I’ll follow wherever you lead.”

“That’s the best answer I’ve heard all day.” Bay grinned, causing Aunt Tillie to groan.

“Give me that wine,” Aunt Tillie ordered. “If I have to watch you two fall all over each other I’ll need a case of this stuff.”

“Let’s take it one bottle at a time,” I said. “As long as Noah and Chris are here, we’ll need a hidden stash.”

“I have three cases in the other room,” Aunt Tillie said. “We’re covered.”

“And that’s why I love you, too,” I offered.

Aunt Tillie stilled, clearly surprised. “You’re not nearly as bad as I thought you’d be when I first met you.”

“And how does that make you feel?”

“Relieved.” Aunt Tillie grinned. “Now I don’t have to hide a body.”

And just like that, things were back to normal. “I think we’re all relieved about that. Do you know what would make this wine even better?”

Bay and Aunt Tillie didn’t hesitate when they answered in unison. “Bacon.”

      “You’ve got that right.”

      About the Author

I want to thank everyone who takes the time to read my novels. I have a particular brand of humor that isn’t for everyone – and I know that.

If you liked the book, please take a few minutes and leave a review. An independent author does it all on their own, and the reviews are helpful. I understand that my characters aren’t for everyone, though. There’s a lot of snark and sarcasm in my world – and I know some people don’t like that.

Special thanks go out to Heidi Bitsoli and Phil VanHulle for correcting the (numerous) errors that creep into a work of fiction.

If you’re interested in my future works, follow me on Facebook, Twitter or join my mailing list. I do not believe in spam. I only announce new releases or free promotions.

This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, businesses, places, events and incidents are either the products of the author’s imagination or used in a fictitious manner. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental.
