Return mixture to heat. Boil 1 minute more, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and blend in 1 tbs. real butter and 1½ tsp. vanilla.
While cooling, stir occasionally, before pouring into graham cracker crust.
Add sliced bananas or coconut to pie shell and cover with mixture and real whipped cream. For added fun try these variations: chocolate cream pie (follow the above recipe except increase sugar to 1½ cups sugar and 3 oz. chocolate) and almond cream pie (follow the above recipe except in place of vanilla use ½ tsp. almond extract and add ½ cup slivered almonds).
A side note to this story: The first banana cream pie I ever made was for my husband eighteen years ago, after his last radiation treatment. That week alone he and our six-year-old son devoured three pies between them.
Pecan Turtle Candy

I remember making these with my mom when I was young…and now I make them with my grandkids.
2 cups pecan halves
36 unwrapped caramels
36 chocolate Kisses
Arrange 5 pecan halves to a cookie sheet to resemble a turtle head and legs. Place a caramel in the center, making 36 turtles. Bake in 325-degree oven for about 5 minutes. Remove from oven and flatten caramels over pecans with a buttered spatula. Place a chocolate Kiss on the top of the caramel. Once the chocolate softens from the warm caramel, spread it around the top.
