Well, perhaps there would be some blood. Just as there was some blood spilled whenever they fed. A small trickle of blood that could escape the lips and run down the back of a neck.
Draz smiled and chuckled to himself as if he had heard a great joke and was thoroughly entertained.
The bigger they were, the harder they would fall. The beast that was the vampire nation was a giant indeed. But it was a giant with a very huge weakness. All that was necessary was timing.
He would battle the queen on two fronts, and she would never know he was coming. Oh, she knew he was out here, knew he was a threat, but he was a threat who hovered at a distance thanks to vampires like Halo and Danton.
However, Halo now had a new weakness: this fragile, delicate human woman. The idea of Halo in love was incredulous and laughable. But it was also convenient. Now if only he could find an equal weakness in Danton. A way of applying pressure—be it physical or mental. He would have to watch him closely. Danton was even more of an enigma than Halo was. Halo was a crude, loyal dog who didn’t know why it was serving its master, just that it was trained to do so and would do so with savagery. Danton was a much more refined beast. A far more intelligent one. In order to defeat him one would have to very cautiously dance with him.
Draz believed he was more than up to the task.
He drifted off to sleep content in that knowledge.
