     Worm

An introverted teenage girl with an unconventional superpower, Taylor goes out in costume to find escape from a deeply unhappy and frustrated civilian life. Her first attempt at taking down a supervillain sees her mistaken for one, thrusting her into the midst of the local ‘cape’ scene’s politics, unwritten rules, and ambiguous morals. As she risks life and limb, Taylor faces the dilemma of having to do the wrong things for the right reasons. The story, titled Worm, takes the form of a web serial, posted in bite-sized reads in much the same way that authors such as Mark Twain would release their works one chapter at a time in the days before full-fledged novels. Worm started in June 2011, updating twice a week, and finished in late November, 2013. It totals roughly 1,750,000 words; roughly 26 typical novels in length (or 10-11 very thick novels).

    Edge

      Kōji Suzuki
     Edge

Edge begins with a massive and catastrophic shifting of the San Andreas fault. The fears of California someday tumbling into the sea--that have become the stuff of parody--become real. But even the terror resulting from this catastrophe pales in comparison to the understanding behind its happening, a cataclysm extending beyond mankind's understanding of horror as it had previously been known. The world is falling apart because things are out of joint at the quantum level, about which of course there's never been any guarantee that everything has to remain stable. Koji Suzuki returns to the genre he's most famous for after many years of "not wanting to write any more horror." As expected from Suzuki, the chills are of a more cerebral, psychological sort, arguably more unsettling and scary than the slice-and-dice gore fests that horror has become known in the U.S. Never content to simply do "Suzuki"--as it were--but rather push the envelope on what horror is in general and for which readers have come to know him, Edge City borders on being cutting-edge science fiction. The author himself terms this novel, which he has worked on for some years, a work of "quantum horror."

     Ship's Boy

First in a series of space opera books following the adventures of David Birkenhead, a genetically engineered slavebunny who gradually rises to become a galactic hero. A short novel of just over 100 pages, this first volume is distributed free to excite interest in the series as a whole.Once upon a time there was a boy named David, who slew a terrible foe…David Birkenhead might have been only twelve years old, but his entire life was already laid out for him. First his father was supposed to teach him how to run a starship's engine room. Then, when the time came, he'd take over the job himself. This was the way of things for slavebunnies like David; luxuries like career-choices were reserved for humans only. Not that David was complaining-- compared to the farmbunnies or domestic-servant rabbits, he had it made. There was even a pretty doe waiting for him in the wings. Then the ships of the Boyen Emperor arrived on David's homeworld and nothing could ever be the same again. Great Houses of Nobility would contest for power, kingdoms would teeter on the edge of oblivion……and out of the resulting vortex young David would bring peace and justice to a thousand worlds.Soon to be a Graphic Novel, check out our Kickstarter:https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/652502502/the-david-birkenhead-project-book-1

     My, My, Little Firefly

The native 'fireflies' constantly encroach on the colony, and it's Gal's job--her shard--to keep them at bay.Until her shard snaps. No place in the world, no rush of endorphins. Is Gal's salvation at the end of the world, or is it closer to home?Is Francis Napier a man or a woman? William Stephens, a young lawyer, is about to depart New Zealand to serve in the First World War when he is seconded to investigate the strange claims of a draft dodger. His interrogation of the mercurial prisoner leads William into a world of doubt that jeopardises his engagement to Edith, a budding artist, and his future in liberal Wellington. This novella weaves historical fact, imaginative fiction and allusions to Greek myth to show how things might prove otherwise for William.      Fading Away

Marooned on a skyland that crashed to the sea, young Joha Mender is slowly starving to death. His food stores exhausted, he must face his greatest fear and brave the deep waters. But the sky-peoples harbor old superstitions about the sea for a reason, and as Joha enters this alien world, he discovers that myths often contain an element of truth. This is a platypus of a piece; there is no denying it. The TV Monsters is part sci-fi tale, part poem, part elegy for a more innocent, vanished time. More than anything else, it's a clear-eyed analysis of what television has done to human civilization. The story (told mainly in verse) is about a young boy who lives an idyllic country life with his grandfather in mid-twentieth century America. One night the boy has a strange experience in which he believes he has seen aliens who have come for some malevolent purpose. They reach Planet Ziplo and get to explore the planet with the Mintrones that inhabit it. The Mintrones welcome Tyren and Reda and they have a great time together. All if well till a cataclysmic event occurs. The dark and evil Zonetrones want to get a hold of the power cube on planet Ziplo in the hope of increasing their own powers. This leads to an attack of planet Ziplo by the Zonetrones. The Mintrones fight the dark Zonetrones with the help of Tyren and Reda. To find out how this story unravels, read our book – THE DAY THE WORLDS MET. A Note from the Author This book was written to put into words the adventures of the Mintrones as my son imagined them. So it’s an effort of a mom to document her son’s thoughts. I have tried my best to bring his ideas alive here. The website www.mintrones.com offers a range of creature toys based on the characters in this book. This whole process of creating our company started when my son who is seven years old came to us and told us that he would love to create his own toys. He drew some sketches of the creatures that inhabited an alien world called Planet Ziplo. He imagined their abilities, their world and their adventures. We decided to go for it and create a range of toys based on his thoughts. In this process, he got to work with artists, prototype designers and even the manufacturer to some extent in the design of the toys. It was an awesome experience for a little guy to take what was an idea and see a tangible product come from it. We had a lot of fun in this process as well. We thought it would nice to give every child the same opportunity to be creative and enjoy being a part of an experience like this. From this was born the “Create Your Own Mintrone” Contest. Your child can enter a design of a mintrone into our contest. The entries get voted upon and the winners get to be our next great toy designers. They also get paid royalty every time a toy of their design is sold to help fund their college! We are out to impact the lives of our children in a positive way. So go ahead and be part of this journey. We hope you have a blast doing it!

Of a Fire on the Moon

      Norman Mailer
Of a Fire on the Moon

For many, the moon landing was the defining event of the twentieth century. So it seems only fitting that Norman Mailer—the literary provocateur who altered the landscape of American nonfiction—wrote the most wide-ranging, far-seeing chronicle of the Apollo 11 mission. A classic chronicle of America’s reach for greatness in the midst of the Cold War, Of a Fire on the Moon compiles the reportage Mailer published between 1969 and 1970 in Life magazine: gripping firsthand dispatches from inside NASA’s clandestine operations in Houston and Cape Kennedy; technical insights into the magnitude of their awe-inspiring feat; and prescient meditations that place the event in human context as only Mailer could. Praise for Of a Fire on the Moon   “The gift of a genius . . . a twentieth-century American epic—a Moby Dick *of space.”—New York  * “Mailer’s account of Apollo 11 stands as a stunning image of human energy and purposefulness. . . . It is an act of revelation—the only verbal deed to be worthy of the dream and the reality it celebrates.”—Saturday Review “A wild and dazzling book.”—The New York Times Book Review   “Still the most challenging and stimulating account of [the] mission to appear in print.”—The Washington Post  * Praise for Norman Mailer   “[Norman Mailer] loomed over American letters longer and larger than any other writer of his generation.”—The New York Times “A writer of the greatest and most reckless talent.”—The New Yorker “Mailer is indispensable, an American treasure.”—The Washington Post “A devastatingly alive and original creative mind.”—Life “Mailer is fierce, courageous, and reckless and nearly everything he writes has sections of headlong brilliance.”—The New York Review of Books “The largest mind and imagination [in modern] American literature . . . Unlike just about every American writer since Henry James, Mailer has managed to grow and become richer in wisdom with each new book.”—Chicago Tribune “Mailer is a master of his craft. His language carries you through the story like a leaf on a stream.”—The Cincinnati Post***
