Wolves at the Door

      Veronica Blade
     Wolves at the Door

NOTE FROM THE PUBLISHER: As with any Veronica Blade book, this is a ROMANCE NOVEL, meaning it's romance FIRST and everything else is secondary. Rated PG-13 for sexual situations and mild profanity. THIS IS BOOK #2 IN THE SHAPES OF AUTUMN SERIES Their forbidden love could cost them their lives... Autumn’s just learned she’s a shape-shifter — something her parents should’ve told her long ago. Unless they adopted her and didn’t know she wasn’t human. Either way, learning the truth has the same outcome: her parents lied. Zack is the only one she can count on, but he’s a werewolf and the king’s decree forbids contact between the species, let alone love. Zack’s planning to leave after graduation, but letting him go isn’t an option. He’s becoming more a part of her every day, a part she would fight for, give up everything for — even kill for. If she’s not killed first. If Zack’s experience with his own kind has taught him anything, it’s that werewolves can’t be trusted. He’d rather die free than live in a pack under the rule of the werewolf king. So, instead of preparing for college like any other senior, he’s planning to go on the run after graduation. Escaping won’t be easy with the werewolves guarding him. But until that day comes, Zack knows he’s endangering Autumn every moment he’s around her. If it’s this difficult staying away from her now, how hard will it be to leave her behind in just a few weeks? See the book trailer: http://youtu.be/GEXgVD1NblU

    Tight

     Tight

I was happy in my small town. In my life as a single, thirty-two year old woman. I had a good job, wonderful friends, my independence. I also hadn't got laid in three years. Hadn't been on a date in two. Had stopped counting calories and wearing makeup... a while ago. Then Brett Jacobs waltzed in. Caressed my thigh, dug rough fingers into my hair, lowered his soft mouth to my skin, took sexual control of my mind and stirred it all around with what he packed in his pants. He flipped my quiet life upside down and crawled into a place in my heart I thought was dead. The issue is his secret. The issue is her. The issue is that I don't even know she exists, and he thinks she's dead. The issue is that shit is about to hit the fan and I can't hold on to him tight enough.

    Falling in Love

     Falling in Love

A Spencer Tracy/Katharine Hepburn style romance between a transsexual woman and a transgender man, both pilots, with different ideals, who play, fight and argue on their way to falling in love at a major air show.A Spencer Tracy/Katharine Hepburn style romance between a transsexual woman and a transgender man, both pilots, who play, fight and argue on their way to falling in love at a major air show.Lourdes is a Hispanic American, long term transsexual, ashamed of who she is. Desperately needing to be as female as any other, her standards are high, too high to be achieved, so she lives in anguish, hating anything that would diminish her as she sees it.Jim, a well-adjusted, well-liked transgender man whom Lourdes meets at the air show, has had issues in his own life and doesn’t need her to add to them. Where Lourdes initially blasts him hard, his gentle nature wins her over, and in the end, she succumbs to him. He becomes her savior. This is her growth process.Falling in Love has one of the two most beautiful endings in my novels to date. While it sizzles at times, Falling in Love is represented in such a way that, I believe, if it were made into a film, could be shown on prime-time broadcast television. Lourdes and Jim are personally unwilling to use harsh language, and while they are eventually open with each other, one can sense they are modest in how they share their intimate moments. The emphasis is on romance, not sex. It’s on watching them fight through their issues to fall in love, not on anger or divisiveness.Falling in Love is set in the world of flight. Cliquish terminology and phrasing are used, though explained, throughout. If you’re a pilot of light general aviation airplanes, you will feel at home in the novel. If you’re not a pilot, then you may fit right in with those who are by the time you’re done reading.

A Fairy Good Fit (Fairy Dust #2)

      Allison Lynne
A Fairy Good Fit (Fairy Dust #2)

Lauren was a late bloomer, but so far her first year in college had helped her find her true self. She had lost weight and developed a whole new taste in clothing and also for the cute clerk at the department store where she shopped. Now that she was finding her perfect fit in life, could she find the right guy? Or was he as elusive as fairy dust? Could she find love with a little help?"Prior weaves a fully realized world in this rich fantasy, from history, political structure, and family life to work, food, drinking (lots of drinking), and romance." -- Kirkus Reviews"Carnifex is a masterpiece of sword and sorcery storytelling. A visceral yet thoughtful epic." -- Bookwraiths Reviews"Gritty, tense, and brutally tragic. High quality storytelling with great characters and a relentless plot." -- Mitchell Hogan, author of A Crucible of Souls and Aurealis Award winner. A name destined to be forgotten. A cursed axe. An atrocity too great to be forgiven. For more than a thousand years, the dwarves have hidden away from the world in their ravine city of Arx Gravis. Governed by an inflexible council whose sole aim is to avoid the errors of the past, the defining virtue of their society is that nothing should ever change. But when the Scriptorium is broken into, and Ravine Guard Carnifex Thane sees a homunculus fleeing the scene of the crime, events are set in motion that will ensure nothing will ever be the same again. Deception and death are coming to Arx Gravis. The riddles that preceded Carnifex’s birth crystalize into a horrifying fate that inexorably closes in. But it is in blood that legends are born, and redemption is seeded in the gravest of sins. For Carnifex is destined to become the Ravine Butcher, before even that grim appellation is forever lost, along with everything that once defined him. The long-awaited Nameless Dwarf origins novel, and the start of a brand new series, Legends of the Nameless Dwarf, Carnifex by D.P. Prior is a welcome addition to the sword and sorcery tradition that spawned R.E. Howard, Michael Moorcock, Fritz Lieber, and Lin Carter, and it picks up right where the heroic fantasy of David Gemmell left off. With tight point of view, complex characterization, and an abundance of horror, bloodshed, and the relentless march of an uncaring fate, it also carries the hallmarks of modern day grimdark that readers of Joe Abercrombie and George R.R. Martin are familiar with.

    Secrets of Eden

      Chris Bohjalian
     Secrets of Eden

From the bestselling author of The Double Bind, Midwives, and Skeletons at the Feast comes a novel of shattered faith, intimate secrets, and the delicate nature of sacrifice. "There," says Alice Hayward to Reverend Stephen Drew, just after her baptism, and just before going home to the husband who will kill her that evening and then shoot himself. Drew, tortured by the cryptic finality of that short utterance, feels his faith in God slipping away and is saved from despair only by a meeting with Heather Laurent, the author of wildly successful, inspirational books about . . . angels.  Heather survived a childhood that culminated in her own parents' murder-suicide, so she identifies deeply with Alice’s daughter, Katie, offering herself as a mentor to the girl and a shoulder for Stephen – who flees the pulpit to be with Heather and see if there is anything to be salvaged from the spiritual wreckage around him. But then the State's Attorney begins to suspect that Alice's husband may not have killed himself. . .and finds out that Alice had secrets only her minister knew. Secrets of Eden is both a haunting literary thriller and a deeply evocative testament to the inner complexities that mark all of our lives.  Once again Chris Bohjalian has given us a riveting page-turner in which nothing is precisely what it seems.  As one character remarks, “Believe no one.  Trust no one.  Assume all of our stories are suspect.”
